Tonight is a comic book Superhero and Supervillian themed art show in Greenwood called Between Heaven and Hellboy. I was invited to contribute something, but since I didn't really grow up with comic book superheros, I decided to do a piece on something that does fascinate me, real life superheros!
This is the piece. Pen and ink on heavy weight comic book drawing paper. I was going for an old fashioned comic book look. I like what where it ended up!
I scanned in my piece, colored it, and made some art trading cards. Which I will be selling at the show, as well as here online after the show.
You might have heard of Phoenix Jones. He started this group called the Rain City Superhero Movement. The group of "vigilante", masked crime fighters at one point had around 11 members. There's now just a handful of the hardcore.

These other cats are also very impressive figures. With backgrounds in military or security training, they are good additions to the team. Midnight Jack was recently on the news keeping a downtown high-rise from being burnt down!
And then there's Rex Velvet. He started the Social Villains Alliance. I currently has one member, and yet is making quite the impact! His is hell bent on ridding the world of these silly superheros gallivanting around the city like cartoons gone wild!
You can find all this information, and then some on the backs of these cards if yourself so inclined to add to your wonderful art collection, or if you'd just like to own a piece of history. Wish me luck tonight! I hope one of them shows up and signs a card or two!
